Start with the way you want to travel
Ladakh is a destination to plan carefully, rather than squeeze into the smallest possible number of days. Before choosing a route, decide how much time you have, whether you prefer a longer journey from Mumbai or a shorter trip joining in Leh, and how often you want to change hotels.
Choose a programme before choosing a departure

Leave room in the schedule
Mountain travel needs flexibility. Ask how the proposed plan allows for altitude, road conditions and longer journeys between places. Avoid treating sightseeing stops as a checklist. Share any mobility or health considerations with the team and get individual medical advice from a qualified clinician when needed.
Ask about the season before fixing dates
The right travel window depends on the route, road access and the experience you want. Ask the team to check conditions for your proposed departure. A dramatic photograph does not tell you whether a road, activity or overnight stay will be suitable on your dates.
Compare the full quotation
Check the joining point, transport type, accommodation category, meals, sightseeing, permits, optional activities and cancellation terms. Ask which costs are payable locally. A headline brochure price is only useful alongside its conditions and validity.
Pack around the actual itinerary
Ask for a route-specific packing list. Think about layers, sun protection, comfortable footwear, documents, charging needs and personal essentials. Confirm luggage allowances with your transport provider rather than assuming all travel arrangements have the same limits.
